Barbara Literska is a music theorist and musicologist. She graduated from the Lipiński Music Academy in Wrocław (Department of Composition, Conducting, Theory of Music and Music therapy, 1992). She received the PhD in Arts in 2003 and the habilitation (a post-doctoral degree) in 2013. Her interests concentrate on the problems of the reception of Chopin's music, the works of the Polish composers of the 20th century, and life and works of Tadeusz Baird (1928-1981). She is the author of monographies: Dziewiętnastowieczne transkrypcje utworów Fryderyka Chopina (2004); Tadeusz Baird. Kompozytor, dzieło, recepcja (2012); Krytyka muzyczna – teoria, historia, współczesność, ed. by Michał Bristiger, Rafał Ciesielski, Barbara Literska, Jolanta Guzy-Pasiak (2009); Przestrzenie recepcji muzyki współczesnej, ed. by Barbara Literska, Rafał Ciesielski (2008); Nineteenth–Century Transcriptions of Works by Fryderyk Chopin (2020); Tadeusz Baird. She was the head of three research projects of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education: habilitation (2010-2012); two from the National Program for the Development of Humanities (NPRH) from the Universalia 2.1 module (2017-2018), the aim of which was to include the most important achievements of Polish humanities. Another important field of scientific exploration is the post-war musical culture of Zielona Góra. This scope of research is reflected in publications and popularization activities. She is also a co-editor of collective works, the author of many articles and chapters in monographs. She actively participates in international and national conferences and is active in the field of popularization of musical culture (including as a co-organizer of concerts, festivals, exhibitions, and as a speaker). She is the initiator and chairwoman of the program council of the 1st Tadeusz Baird International Music Festival organized by the Zielona Góra Philharmonic (20-22.09.2024, Zielona Góra) and curator of the festival exhibition. Her scientific activity is complemented by organizational activity at the University, where she held the following positions: Head of the Department of Music Theory, Deputy Director of the Institute of Musical Culture and Art, Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Arts, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education Quality. For organizational achievements focused on the issues of quality of education and the development and implementation of scientific research, she received the Rector's Award of the University of Zielona Góra four times (2007, 2012, 2016, 2023). She is a regular member of the Musicologists Section of the Polish Composers' Union, a member of the Polish Society of Musical Analysis, a member of the Lubuskie Scientific Society, a reviewer of the journal "Interdisciplinary Studies in Musicology", a member of the Editorial Board of "Rocznik Chopinowski". She is also an expert of the Ministry of National Education and a consultant of the Center for Artistic Education in the field of music theory. She was awarded the Medal of the National Education Commission (2014). Since 1993 he has lived and worked in Zielona Góra, initially as an assistant at the Institute of Musical Education at the Tadeusz Kotarbiński Pedagogical University, then as an assistant professor, and currently as a professor at the Institute of Music at the University of Zielona Góra (courses in the theory of music offered to the students of Music Education and Jazz and pop Music).
